We Need Your Voice - Protect Our Schools and Our Community

What's Happening? In addition to the awaiting Senate vote on Governor Mike DeWine's veto override, a newly revised version of House Bill 186 has been introduced that would look backward at property values and inflation. As written, it could significantly reduce school funding based on 2023–2024 valuations.

Why It Matters to Continental

  • Wth House Bill 186, an immediate loss of over $200,000 per year for the next three years
  • The district may lose even more money beginning in 2029 due to the likely veto override of House Bill 96.
We agree that Ohio’s property-tax system needs reform. However, HB 186 would provide only temporary relief to homeowners while forcing school districts statewide to return to the ballot earlier and more often, ultimately increasing costs for communities over time. This approach undermines the stability public schools need to plan responsibly and provide high-quality education. This is not just a local issue. It's a statewide crisis.

Take Action Today: Contact Your State Legislators. Please make your voice heard. Contact Representative Roy Klopfenstein, Jim Hoops, and Senator Rob McColley and urge them to vote NO on House Bill 186.
